It is starting to get dark and because of blowing snow you cannot see the slope
you have to climb to get to Spruce Creek Pass. The Slope faces
North and you know it is wind loaded from SW winds. Friends told
you this would be the only steep climb, but that it was short.
What will you do? |
 |
Three
of you stay in a safe spot, one proceeds carefully along cliff
band to the top of the slope, and radios when clear. Only one
person is exposed at a time. |
 |
The
four of you decide to turn around and head back to Stone Creek.
You have pleanty of food, water, clothing and headlamps. You
figure if all goes well you'll be at your car by 9:00 p.m. |
 |
You
decide to find a safe spot and dig a snow cave for the night.
Hopefully visibility and conditions will be better in the morning. |
